Unemployable is a DJ Mix/podcast blog and imprint that was started in 2007 by veteran DJ and artist Katy Walker, as a way to share new music via DJ mixes and podcasts.  Unemployable also produces events and collaborates with DJs, producers, singers, bands, designers and artists from Austin to NYC to Amsterdam.

The name Unemployable is something that always makes people either laugh or go “hum, let me think about that one…”. The original tag line was “Get fired, collect unemployment” (à la the movie ‘Office Space’) which is essentially an eff you to the 9-5 mind numbing office job lifestyle. Your creative skills don’t make you “employable” in the world we currently live in (when they should, humans are not robots). Musicians are that special type of artist that typically do not have the skills that make them highly employable. So in essence the idea is to support the creative people who, though not always gainfully employed, contribute just as much to our society, if not more.
